500mi SW of Brownsville Tx.
That's hail. 3 feet of it in some places. .

Okay I'll bite. Why is it so unusual aren't they nearly mile high elevation.
Does the elevation not effect the weather as much as here due equatorial position.

How often have you heard of a 3' deep hail anywhere?
I've seen it once in my 69 years, and it was a lot closer to 1' than 3'.

Looked more like snow in the pictures.
Doesn't look like hail I have seen, doesn't mean it didn't happen or it isn't hail.

Definitely hail. Look at it close and you can see the individual stones.
I saw it like that once in San Angelo April 1995.
When you get a LOT of hail and the stones are about all the same size, that is what it looks like. It packs down into a semisolid mass.

Worst hail I ever saw was in Anniston, Alabama. Elevation maybe 300-400 ft, in July. It was an inch or two deep, the size of marbles, looked like snow on the ground.
