As we'll all agree,I know nothing -- but why is there no reflection of the lightling on the water? Was the actual strike much further away and this is just angles?

Don't ask me cause I don't know squat either but you make a good point. It does look like it didn't actually hit the statue and its just the angle of the shot. I would think had it hit the statue itself the lights wouldn't be on in the torch or the building. Stunning photo nonetheless.
