I think the photos was taken in less than ideal light and what you are seeing is the effect of the flash.

That may be it-sorry. It's hard to get a good pic, either the lighting isn't good or they won't stand still..........

This fellow would look good in my eyes even if he was not a brindle; but it is my favourite colour!
