I have a few Long phorn that need some attention. The chute that we have will not allow them the down it because of horns. They have never been down a chute and are very timid. When I got them all of them jumped at least 1 fence and headed out. I am thinking of darting them. Found fun darts online As a kid we used Rompun. How could I get some.

Fun darts?

From a vet or from someone selling it illegally. Sort of like other types of drugs.

Be very careful with it. Too little won't do the job. Too much can be real bad. And that is based on the amount delivered into the animal, not the amount put in the dart. Ain't no fun in that.

When they go down, try to get a towel or something between their head and the ground to minimize possibility of damage to the eye from ground, sticks, rocks and such when they are layed out.

Big risk when using it outside in hot weather. The drug interferes with their ability to control their temperature. Can get overheated in the sun when it is hot. They will slobber and foam at the mouth as a warning.

There is a reason it is a controlled drug.

Thanks. I didn't. Know most of what you were telling. I fig I would dart when I feed which is free of sticks etc. I fig I would have to get a vet but was hoping not to. I had planned on soon so warm Esther wouldn't be a factor but I had no idea of the warm weather issue. Thanks
Talk about real bad; Don't accidentally stick your self.
my wife calls me crack head not because I spoke crack but I tend to crack my head to many times. I tell her huh I got this call
Me the car. I got 9 lives. Then I mumble so she can barely hear me and tell her I got to slow down a bit I only have one of those lives left

I found on mature cows it can affect them differntly form one to another. Some it hits hard some need more. Feeder calf size is much more predicable. Just give them plenty time to go down after you shoot them. And a few minutes after they lay down, before you start your task. I would do one or two at a time . Not try lay down several. And keep a eye on time when you shoot them time is ticking. Darts have came a long way. Those old one you had to put a charge in them they were barbed you had to remove them they didnt fall out.

Are they mean with their horns now? If not why tip them?
And i have longhorns with much longer horns than yours have and if i wanted them to be in the headgate i wouldn't hesitate to let them go in. You just have to give them time, you can't rush them.
