I found a great scale, thanks to people on this board.... so my next quest is for a working tub. Maybe called a crowding tub to some. Fairly good sized, that has a squeeze and headgate, with the walk in palp door. What do you all use or have liked? So far I think my fav that I have rented was made in ND, but I can't remember the manufacturer. Thanks for the opinions and help!

Preifert makes two different sweep systems. The cheaper one is a little awkward for the cows until they get used to it. The other, newer one has the exit from the sweep at the hinge end of the sweep gate. Works much betteer. We had problems with the girls the first couple of times through the old stype, but now it's easy as pie since they've figured it out. We have 20 foot of aan alley to the palp cage then the chute. We also put a sliding gate in the alley way half way down. To load out cattle. We swing one of the panels in and back the trailer up to the side. Isn't optimum, but it's relatively inexpensive and it fits in the limited area we have to work with

Look up Hi-Hog, Hi-Qual and Morand on the net

I use Hi Hog - love the chute system - can be opened up for cattle or narrowed down for calves - man I used to hate those "turn around" calves in the wooden chute!

Always ask for the vido - it helps visualize what these systems can do.
A significant investment - never go back to the old ways. They are the safest way to handle cattle. Tech support is usually top notch - and very seldom required because they are made so well that there are few if any probs.

My Hi Hog squeeze - purchased new - with a transport system for towing - has had thousands of animals through it - is stored outside and still looks new.

I just grease it once a year and use it. Rest of the time I just forget about it.

Canadian weather is tough - but just ran 40 calves through it today for sorting and vaccinating in lots of wind and minus temperatures. Wife - 5 foot one - runs the catch - I run the tub and chutes. Daughters do the vaccinating and recording - took us all of 45 minutes - basically one a minute and we were done! Out of the tub - into the chute - into the squeeze - catch 'em - two needles - and out the door.

Steers went left, to their new home and heifers went right, to their new home. A couple of yearling cows that were mixed in went straight through - back to their winter pasture. Couldn't be easier.

In the end, the big outfits ALL make good systems - it's a matter of finding the one that fits your budget.
