We penned some calves and gave them their 2nd round of shots in preparation of weaning in a few weeks. It was one of those days..... took forever to get the stragglers up, took twice as long as it should to split the calves off, calves didn't care to move down the alley, etc. No one was acting flighty, just not going were we needed them to. We got 'er done, finally. Thank goodness we started very early and beat the heat. Now we're ready to wean this bunch in a few weeks.

Sounds like you are doing them right. I worked 24 yesterday morning by myself myself getting them ready to ship. Started at 7:00 and finished about 9:15. since I am by myself I had to use the hot shot a little more than desired. A lot of walking which I don't mind, opening and shutting gates to get 5 or 6 at a time into the tub. Mine are pretty docile and sometimes a few flighty calves make things go faster.

I had gathered mine up the night before to save some time.
