Winter storm

Help Support CattleToday:

Round 2 coming Monday. Even predicted snow for S Alabama and the Florida panhandle. Mrs Gizmom may get some .

As of this post, we're not expecting to get any accumulating precipitation. That's a good thing because we still have snow pack on the north leaning roads and other shady spots (not counting the whorehouse; those folks always have snow).

We are expecting very cold with some wind. 10 degrees with with sub-zero temperatures doesn't get my hummingbirds into a whirlwind. It gets my hippopotamus azz into a can and will do attitude. Events like these serve us well, so we're reminded that God is in control.

No snow in the forecast. The low tomorrow is 17. I always prefer to look at the bright side. I haven't seen a mosquito or rattle snake in over 3 months. And Portland over on the west side of the state is famous for its homeless population. We have no such problem here.

It's 30 currently, 24 hours from now it's supposed to be below zero and wind chills of -30. The north wind is supposed to bring "considerable lake effect snow" and "considerable blowing and drifting". A few of the local guessers are saying anywhere from 18-36" of snow are possible in the next few days.

Looks like a few days of feeding cows then sitting on the couch watching it snow.

You realize that Monday is MLK day, anything related to government is usually closed down.
Yes. Figured everyone reading that would know it was a joke. .It has been going around social media all week. Someone posts that about the schools, and then someone will reply: "No , they are closed because it is inauguration day! "

It's currently 13 here with a windchill of 9, we're about to go and see if we can tree some squirrels. I'm really second guessing my judgement but then again, I've been in a boat headed to a duck hole at 3 in the morning in this kind of weather before, at least we will be walking so that should generate some heat. If we ain't treeing some squirrels pretty quick we'll probably call it quits. Have I ever mentioned how much I dislike this northern weather showing up down here. I'd rather kill a copperhead with a flip flop than deal with this cold. Between being cold and it getting dark at 5:30, I really start looking forward to spring by this time of year.

Weather reports say it's anywhere from 0-2 at the moment here with of around 15. Bout the same looks like for tomorrow, then up to 21 on Wednesday and 35 on Thursday and in the 40's after that. 35 and 40's will feel like a heatwave.

As far as I know they haven't canceled a single day of school here this year. But all the kids that are close to here are younger and do to the distance to school they get home schooled. I know in the past some of the high school age kids went over to Unity and boarded there during the week just coming home on the weekends. I know there is a fairly good size boarding school down at Crane that serves the ranch kids in southeast Oregon.

@coachg , @alacowman1 , what is your weather like this morning? It had drizzled rain all day Friday- Sunday here, with temps hovering in the 30's. When it got daylight this morning, there isn't a cloud in the sky, but the temp is 15 degrees! Weatherman says it is going to be a couple of days before it gets above freezing, but no snow in sight. What is crazy, is down in middle and south Ga, they gonna get snow! 1-3 inches down on the kudzu place. @Mountaintown Creek Ranch , what is it like over there?

Forecast is getting less and less severe here. Temperatures are coming up, if only by a few degrees. The snow forecast is all but taken out. Just a small window around midnight now.

Just 61 days til Spring!! And only 153 days til SUMMER!

Forecast here changed about the same as 1982vette's did. Pretty cold but only slight chance of any precipitation except some rain. Same as it did last time a cold front came thru..

Cold snowy days are perfect for guilt free relaxing. Too cold for anything but feeding and checking cows, after that it's sit and watch the world go by. Once spring is here and it's warmed up the busy season begins and there isn't as much guilt free relax time.
