Winter Feeding Question

I am feeding 16 cows this winter. They have hay all the time and molasses tubs, 14% feed. How much feed should I feed them per head per day. I dont want to over feed them high as feed is. THANKS

If your hay is good they should not need any feed. Feed calves not cows.

Really, no feed for the cows. how do you check the quality of your hay? 1st cutting was put up with no rain on it at all.

Get a sample from a few rolls and take it to your local extension office and they will have it checked for you.

What is a good # for good hay.

What is a good # for good hay.

It depends on what you are feeding. If these are dry cows they don't need as much as lactating cows.

more than half of them are lactating cows the others are bred cows.
