I have a 2 year old heifer that just had her first calf. The calf wasn't able to find a nipple to nurse from the cow so after a day and a half, we bottle fed it while leaving the cow and calf together. After 11 days the calf finally started nursing from the cow. Will the cow start making enough milk for it now, or has she dried up after all this time? I still give the calf a bottle, but not as much as I did at first. The calf doesn't bawl for the bottle like it used to, but is still hungry enough to take one when offered. Thanks for any info.
