My friend had one such steer and he decided to tranquilize him. He borrowed a gun from the vet and shot his steer. The S.O.B. never got up, killed him... True story...When its time for me to get some of mine up I will feed all in my catch pen for a few days and when they get used to it and calm down I shut the gates on them. If its winter and I got one giving me he## to get up I'll let them go a whole day without eating and then I'll unroll a bale in the catch pen. You can bet your bottom dollar they'll knock thereselves down geting in the pen then. Not enough can be said for a good catch pen and corrals though. I built mine to where when I shut the gates their a$$e$ are mine.
