Residents of Central America for the same reason Americans migrated to California during the dust bowl days.

Socialism?
Your state is number 4 for federal dollars per person in all of the United States. You should understand socialism.

Socialism?

Socialism here or Socialism in their country they are migrating from.

So instead of staying in their own country, which has a wealth of natural resources, and trying to fix their government, they come to America and try to break our government? Yep, just like the dust bowl days...

If natural resources were of any value to the working class, West Virginia would look a lot different.

And Eastern Kentucky would look a lot different too.

Yeah, it's almost as if there is a federal agency and sundry NGOs working to cease the extraction of coal from the mountains of West Virginia, Kentucky, and Virgina.

I never did figure out why the coal miners never got off the ground in the energy sector as well. Unless it's education level driven.Oil, gas and atomic all paid a high end middle class wage while stimulating the economy.
Last stat ( don't quote) I remember was for every man working in the refinery it supported another 19 in ancillary jobs.

they come for the free medical, food, and cash. oh yea.. that 'freedom' thing
Here is an article on food stamps and its affect on the economy. This study happened in 2011. I would think that the people that produce beef may have got a little bit of the dollars from food stamps. After all it is food that we are producing.

They migrate because climate change has hit Guatemala with repeated crop failures turning it
into a dust bowl?

Oh, If only we could go back 90 years to those glorious lazy days of the carefree '30s where the
weather and the world were in perfect harmony.

i know in 2009 when I lived in E. KY they had billboards up paying 50/hr starting out. my neighbor was young, had a new fancy house, 300 acres and made almost 70/hr as a supervisor.

yep.. thats what they paid. some said 38 / hr for a while. then I noticed some saying 50/hr . guy bought my cattle and he worked at a mine in W virginia he told me he made 120/hr operating a crane..

maybe you should sell those worthless cattle and be a coal miner.

Now the billboards have a different message all from attorneys. Working days over? Call Grover. Also had a little problem with one attorney escaping disability fraud to the tune of almost a billon and going to Central America. I guess reverse migration.
