With all of the seemingly "insane" stuff going on these days all over the country, in every phase of American living, and different from what we have experienced ever before, many "uninformed" friends and acquaintances will ask you "Why in the World do you live "way out here", and do what you do?"

Many Ranchers and Cattle Breeders have the same trouble giving an 'understandable' answer to those types of questions as perhaps you do. Well, here are some "operable answers" that you can give them! They may not have even a vague idea of what the REAL GUT feelings that a Rancher or Farmer may experience, and they may not understand what you are talking about - but YOU certainly know what it is ALL ABOUT!

Here are a few links which I guarantee will give you a tug in your heart strings, and a reNEWed interest in Why You DO - What You Do!

These were produced by The PR Department of the AAA and Eric Grant, American Angus Association Public Relations Manager. You might contact him and see if he can help You Do - What You Do!

Very good Doc. Thanks
It's nice to see several generations of families taking over the family ranches, keeping them intact. Unfortunately many of the large operations have been broken up as the kids go on with their lives in different ways. It could be the money or just interested in other things. There is also the quest of the city folks wanting the values of the country life that escalate the real estate values of the ranching properties. I don't blame them at all. But it sure has made a definite change in the landscape over the years. Frankly I hate it but I also know it is just progress and the economy needs it.

it's good that the beef/ag industry is putting out some educational info to combat the animal rights stuff being put out there. YouTube and the other social networking outlets are good places to reach non-ag types, especially the young ones. And that's who PETA targets...kids.

Thanks for the post, Doc.

We're working hard with many people and organizations across the industry to get the word out on the positive contributions that the cattle industry makes to the social, environmental and economic well-being of America.

All of us have a good story to tell, but we need to share these stories with others outside of agriculture.

I invite all of you to take a look at the videos on our youtube channel -- located at www.youtube.com/apicreativemedia -- and to share them with others in your community.

Best regards,

Eric Grant

This is why we need to have a strong internet presence on sites like youtube.com to keep our positive story in front of the public.
I agree! There are so many zealots spewing their propaganda, we need to take care to be good stewards. One video of a "bad apple in the barrel" does huge damage to us.

I read the other day that one of the real livestock groups is trying to get the people that video that stuff and wait for months to report arrested for animal abuse. Won;t do anything for the idiots doing the actual abuse but would sure decrease the abuse of the animals that are being witnessed being abuse.

All of us share an equal responsibility in telling our side of the story. Anyone with a video camera can capture the things we value most about our businesses and livelihood, and share these things publicly on websites like youtube.

The animal-rights activists who want to run us out of business are working against our industry 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We need to have the same level of commitment to counter this stuff.
