You are right, 52 isn't quite the calf we like. He is standing a bit awkward in the picture, and looks worse than he is. She has raised better calves than him in the past, and I am thinking that it was the sire more than the cow that let us down. He was a new yearling we had purchased, several of his calves just weren't what we expected. Guess we may have been lucky when he didn't test this spring.

Those 2 cows are some good ones. They are pretty good looking, hold their condition and raise some really nice calves every year.
