Has anybody succeeded in getting a white angus? Sure would be interesting to see a white angus instead of red or black. I still dont know why it seems all these other breeds have gone black, why dont they go red or white or spotted. dont get me wrong i have a black maine heifer well actually 87% maine anjou 12% angus rest is crossbred according to her papers anyway. ag teacher told me to keep her out of the sun because she would shed her or something like that (this was before show season this spring) and she stayed black during the winter and spring and for some reason this past month alot of red has showed up on her sides LOTS, and yes i know maines were originally red some still are i guess but when i showed at the city Oklahoma City to be exact this march all maines in my class were either black or black white face now back to the original subject,
If someone succeeds in a white angus, let me know, might give someone something to think about, who knows.

angus is one of the few breeds that doesn't allow percentage cattle. they also have a requirement that only a certain amount of white & only in certain places (underside behind the navel, i think) can be found on the animal. basically, i'm saying it's not going to happen.

what happens if you get an animal that is 99.99999999999.....9% angus? could you be able to get that one? and if it is white? however i dont see a white calf being dropped after being bred to a black angus that many times im still a little at awe at how they were able to produce a black charolais since charolais seems to dilute every color except white
just curious and i believe what was said but when was that rule that percentage angus arent allowed? also why is there such a variation in the angus breed? ive seen mature bulls weigh no more than 1300# and see other ones that weighs nearly 2500# didnt i hear or read somewhere that angus was bred to chi to make the breed bigger and that is where the white comes from on the udder and such correct me if im wrong

both parents have to be registered black angus period. The calf must meet the guidelines of the AAA to be registered.

The white on their udders etc happened long before chis started being imported.
The reason there are such variations is because different folks selected for different traits and they don't all trace back to one animal.

I had a neighbors Charolais bulls get in with my cows several years ago- ended up with several white Char X calves- since the buyer didn't want the grey or white calves I kept the heifers as replacements, thinking I'd just breed them back to angus bulls and they'd have black calves-WRONG- Still had white or grey calves- being bullheaded I kept a few of the nicer heifers and bred back to angus bulls.
This has went on for 20 years and I still have about 15 grey or white cows, none of which could have more than a 1/4 and most with less than an 1/8 to 1/16 Char- these cows will normally now have a black calf, but every once in a while they have a grey one.

They are great cows- I call them my white angus- Make good herd markers in with the blacks and black baldies.

British Whites are as close as your going to get.

Saw that this morning. I've said it before....for all you want to talk about United and their international profile Atlantic City Casinos, they really seem to do business the right way. I'm interested to see just how much Kenyon had to do with these results, so next year will be interesting.

Dear sir,
1. There is a chance you can have an albino calf.... or some unique mutation in color genes.. If you get a pure white Angus calf, you will be an instant millionaire!
2. Why is there such an Angus variation in sizes? Because some breeders don't give a **** as long they are Angus and have black hides....they forget basic rules of genetics, etc. Additionally, old genes tend to show up (remember Aberdeen Angus are/were a dwarf breed.....).

i'm so glad you posted a remark about the "basic rules of genetics" again.

please explain the "basic rules of genetics" to us & also how the angus people forget them.

Red Angus because of their calm temperment and better resistance to heat than the blacks.
