i got a bottle calf a couple weeks old.we give him 2 bottles a day.he could easily take another.what i am wondering is this.....is it better to give more milk or not.the reason i can think it would maybe no is that the more they fill up on milk the less they are gonna eat grain.no doubt u can feed grain cheaper than milk replacer but since we only got 1 bottle baby that isnt a big deal.i know the milk is higher n protein and fat.

After each feeding give him a couple more cups of just plain water in the bottle and encourage the calf to eat the calf starter as early as possible.

I am assuming you are feeding 2 quarts per feeding? I have gone to 3 quarts for the first couple weeks and than 4 quarts and the calves do absolutely great. It is obviously more expensive but I have much healthier and faster growing calves. They seem to get onto starter similar to the way they did when getting 2 quarts.
