When to wean 1st calf?

I purchased a young cow the day after she gave birth to her first calf. The seller said she was two years old, I believe she may be younger, she is small but has been a very good mother. The calf is now 4 months old. The young cow appeared to breed back around 37 days after giving birth to the calf (I did not actually see her get bred). I would like to wean the calf at the earliest time in order to give the mother as much time to rebuild before calving again. Thanks in advance for all of the help.

Step one would be to have a vet palpate her to find out for sure when shr should be calving. Based on that I would wean to give the cow a minimum of 4 months. But actually, if you start creep feeding the calf now yoy can probably wean it anytime now as long as you keep graining it after it has been weaned
