When is the best time of year to plant wheat straw? I'm in central Virginia
Is no-till a good method for planting? How long will it take to grow? THANK YOU!

I assume that you mean when is the best time of year to plant wheat for straw and that would be sometime in the fall. Usually early Oct for my area but not sure about VA. No-till can work. It is harvested sometime (again for this area) late June/early July.

I think wheat straw is the wheat stalks that remain once the wheat has been thrashed. If otherwise - I need some more education. Wheat in VA is normally winter wheat & is planted in the fall, grows up until hard freezes force dormancy & then re-starts again in late winter early spring. It matures in May & is usually is harvested for the grain in late May early June. The remaining straw is also baled at this time (comes out of the back of the combine).
