At what age does a calf start drinking water? The new cement watering trough looks too tall for little calves to drink out of.

they will nose around in the water the first few days and start drinking some in the first week

I've seen ours with their heads in the stock tank within the first week or two. I would suggest watching to see if it is too tall for them and, if it is, either fix it or rig a 'creep waterer' with a lower portable tank or an old bathtub for the calves that the cows can't get to. Calves need water.
