Wheat hay?

Does anyone put up wheat hay?
Last year after the hay harvest we knew it was going to be close with only 1,700 bales when we usually use 2,000 and that there would be no leftovers (carryover) for this year.
So we drilled winter wheat into our hay fields to increase this year's yield.
Unfortunately the drought kept us form increasing the yield even with the wheat.
Right now it looks like our total yield for this year will be around 1,000 to 1,200 bales.
How is your yield coming?

Since our wheat was not going to cover the combining, we baled it. Made four bales to the acre. This will help us make it through the winter. I have fed wheat hay before and the cows loved it. You will have to run it through some type of conditioner. I also drilled wheat into the pasture along with fescue at one place. Another location I drilled rye and fescue. Both were poor stands due to the drought. On a normal year, I believe that we would of had a excellent looking pastures.
