Ooooh, oooh, in another lifetime I was in a fancy jewelry store in NYC to get a bracelet repaired...Robert Horton (Flint McCullough) came in and sat RIGHT NEXT TO ME to wait his turn...I was 18 and he was gorgeous! He had freckles, that's all I remember. (Had he asked, I'm sure I'd have gone west on a wagon train with him. He didn't :( ) That same year I saw Henry Fonda walking in the opposite direction on a Fifth Avenue sidewalk, wow, a very tall, very handsome man.

I remember Have Gun Will Travel was on 9:30 Friday nights, followed by Gunsmoke at 10. And Saturday mornings we had Sky King, My Friend Flicka, and some others.

Ahhh, the good old days....

What about Fury? I watched a lot of re-runs of that as a kid. I didn't particularly like the show, but it kinda grew on you after a while. I haven't see that in years.

late to the party.

but I am an olllldddd coot and knew most of the answers to the quiz.

I remeber all the show listed and loved em all.

Two of my favorite movies that no one has mentioned

The Searchers - John Wayne
Nevada Smith - Steve McQueen

YES, Lammie, Fury! Thanks for reminding me. That was included in "others" cause I couldn't remember the name. But I wasn't watching the re-runs ;-) .

roys sidekick was george gabby hayes.

The old TV westerns also had, in my view, some of the very best theme songs and/or music. I can still vividly recall the music for most of them. My favorites were The Lone Ranger, The High Chaparral, Bonanza, The Rifleman, Rawhide and Wyatt Earp. Those really were the good old days, modern conveniences and technology notwithstanding.

bigbull, I knew joey, but wouldn't have remembered his best friend, Packy, for the life of me. I always wanted a horse that would only let me ride him. Stupid, huh?

I vaguely, very vaguely, recall there was a Saturday morning Roy Rogers show. Roy had a side kick named Pappy and also drove around some of the time in a jeep. I remember getting the jeep as a Christmas toy and there was a RR figure that sat behind the wheel. The figure couldn't do anything else, it's function was to sit in the jeep and drive.

Gabby was Roy's primary movie side kick.

Of course this is all so many moons ago, I could have my info twisted.

Loved Paladin, mainly because of his secret derringer. Got one of those as a Christmas toy, too.

your right but the guy that drove the jeep wasnt pappy.i do know that he wouldnt ride a horse at all.so roys dog bullet usually rode in nelly with him.

My Friend Flika
Fury
Roy Rodgers

I had a horse only I could ride-- He would run on a tight rein, and stop when you gave him his head,or shifted weight to the left sturrip(sp) Also would turn away from leg pressure. Backward from what everyone else was used to.. He was taught to rear, paw, bite(at) strike
and kick-all only on command- He also could rear and jump straght up..Imagine rideing all that bareback..Of course,I was 16/18 and bulletproof
Oh,Tonto is "Stupid" in Spanish..

My sentiments exactly, AZ. I remember the themes to "Johnny Yuma Was A Rebel" and "Tombstone Territory", but I couldn't tell you a thing about the plot of the shows. I wish some network would show reruns of those two shows.

The music for the Lone Ranger is the William Tell Overture. Written many, many years ago. A classic, in fact, opera. I like it too. Merry( the other half)
