What's the youngest you can brand a baby calf?

Anyone got any opinions on the subject?

I would wait 4-5 months. If you brand real young you will end up with brand as big as a house, well really big anyway.

I brand the heifers I'm keeping at about 8 months, and those get pretty big by the time they're grown.

I failed to mention that we branded at 6 months or there abouts, at weaning. Our stamping iron was 4x3 and branded on the left rib. Made a pretty big brand when they were grown.
