I have 9 calves between 100 and 250 lbs. 5 are still bottle feeding (2 down to once a day). All but one are angus calves, 1 is a holstein. They all came from the sale barn and I don't think thay have had any shots. What age do they need to be given shots and wormed? What kind of shots do I need to give them, and what is it protecting against? I live in SE Iowa and am new to this. Thanks.

A 7 way clostridial shot is certainly in order and booster it in a month or 6 weeks. At that time you can also give shots covering IBR/BVD/PI3, H Somnus, and pasteurella.

I just picked up my fall shots yesterday. One Shot Ultra 7 and ViraShield 6 + Somnus cover everything for $4.50 per dose. IF I had gotten my cows vaccinated this spring I could have used a MLV vaccine which IMO is both cheaper and more effective than a killed vaccine. Never use a MLV vaccine on calves nursing cows not current in their own vaccinations.
