What kind was it?

They cut down a big fir tree that had a Bald eagle nest in it, and it had several small dog and cat collars in it. Along with trout trolling gear.
We have an enormous bald eagle nest by one of the brome fields and I suspect they snatch way more of the barn cats than any other predator. Friends of ours were duck hunting on our watershed when the lake was iced over. First duck barely hit the ice when one of the eagles snatched it up. 😂But they are amazing creatures!
