I figured it was for hogs, sheep goats etc... only goes up to #300.

Any value in this scale?

It looks custom built, any animal up to 300 lbs could be weighted including calves, you would need to check with some of the old timers in the area or previous owner to find out what it was used for.

The most value I can see would be as yard art for some yuppie that's moved to their 1/4 acre ranch

if it still works sell it ! 4 h fair time you might get a fist full of dollars for it ? its worth somthing to some one if it works .or not .
yard art should bring the most i would say .seen old junk tractors bring more than scrap price for painted up yard art !

It looks like an old balance beam scale to me. I've got a fancy metal one that goes up to a ton. Works just like that one. Accurate.
