I just cleared some new ground in midlands SC and have been prepping it for pasture. I have some wild grass coming up and not sure what it is. Its spreading very fast. Even the dirt piles from where I dug a few small drainage ditches is full of it. Maybe dallisgrass? Could someone id it trying to figure out if I should let it grow in or how to control it. I was planning to put in Bahia.

That looks like what we call foxtail. It also fits foxtails mo of coming up in freshly excavated spots. If it's going to be pasture the cows will kill it off just like Johnson grass. If you are going to seed improved grass I would kill it with Roundup before it makes seed. IMG_20220607_095734.jpg

I will post seed heads when it comes to seed. Very shallow roots. I thought quackgrass but it doesn't have auricles where the leaf comes off the stem. Its going to be pasture just want to make sure that it isn't something that could be dangerous for the cows.
I'm pretty sure its not crab grass as the leaves are hairless. The broadleaf signalgrass looks like it and matches the fine hairs along stem and hairless leaves.

Definitely not crabgrass, I've seen it in my pasture and around the barn and hay lot . Don't think it will hurt your cows .
