What Is the Most?

Help Support CattleToday:

Milk EPD's and growth EPD's are antaganistic traits. Meaning they USUALLY are high in one trait & low in the other. A growth bull rarely came from milk lines, and milk bulls rarely came from growth lines. Same with BW EPD's and YW EPD's. That's why people are trying (and succeeding) in producing those "spread" bulls that go against the normal. This is another reason why knowing breed EPD's are such an important tool.
Chuckie, you need to come up to NY & go to Gallaghers' Bull sale - 1st Sat in May. Great program at reasonable prices. http://www.gallagherangus.com they have a free video. 100% guaranteed & free delivery. Also, our state Bull test sale in April.
We have a difficult time selling high price bulls in NY. Heck, we have a hard time selling high price anything in NY. I sell more of my quality animals out of state.

Jeanne, I checked out the Gallager's site. They do have some really nice bulls. I am going to look at their site more. The bull on their front cover is really nice. I would like for all my cattle to look like that. I have been reading about the "maternal and terminal sire." I do see a lot of bulls crossing over into both sides.
There is a bull that ORIgen lists, "KCF Bennett Coalition." His BW is 2.9, milk 33, YW 103, and SC 1.64. The SC is the highest I have seen in Angus. Then another, "Summitcrest Pfred" BW 0.3, milk 24, YW 112, and SC 1.59. Most Angus SC runs well less than half of that. So many options out there!

I don't know how may Pfreds there are. But Summitcrest Hi Flyer 3B18 known as Pfred from ABS is dead. Might watn to check on availability if you're planning on AIing to him.

Pfred is Dead, that's what I said!! Seems that was a song several years ago. I think this is a George Forman deal. ORIgen lists Summitcrest Pfred 3B18 0J98 in their directory. His sire is the bull I believe you are referring to. Here is Pfred that ORIgen shows now.

Then the other bull, KCF Bennett's Coalition:

I would pick KCF over Pfred. I would like to go look out the window and see him in my pasture.
Check this bull out dun. He is "The Terminator" on the beefbooster.com site. I could put KCF on one side of my house and this one on the other. This guy must of been what they referred to when they asked, "Where's the beef?"

What a bull!!

Not my cup of tea, but those are some serious bulls.
I've used a number of KCF Polled Herefords and feel like they have a really good program. Don't know why they wouldn't have the same quality in all of the breeds.
One of these days I'll have to check and see what the Pfred semen I have in the tank is worth. Got it to breed to some crossbred Simmenthal stocker heifers a couple of years ago and when the market went nuts I sold them before I got them bred.
