In some environments they are less desirable. They typically don't habdle cold weather as well. Not wanting to start the whole quality grading issue again, they're not known to quality grade as well as some other breeds. CAB specifies no hump, so no matter how well they grade and black the hide, they still won't get the premiums.
In environments they are adapted to, hot and buggy they are a solid answer to the needsss for that area.
Also, in range situations they tend to better utilize the resources by not being tied to water. They will cover more ground when feeding and will eventually work all of the water sources. That was our experience when using them in the desert mountains where water pionts were frequently seperated by several miles of rough country.
