Does anyone know what happens Oct 1st with obamacare ? What happens when you go to the doctor after Oct 1st, It seems a lot of people do not know. I was talking to a Senior in college he knew nothing about it, he knew nothing about signing up Oct 1st, my insurance agent said he did not know but was to attend classes before then to find out. ???????

Well 51 people have read this and no responses so I guess no one knows 16000 IRS new hires will be enforcing this law. and getting all your personal information. Does anybody know I sure don't?

Oct 1 is when the "exchanges" are supposed to be available for individuals who don't have health insurance to buy an "affordable" policy for themselves. Most of the states declined to set up their own exchange and left it up to the feds.

It is either 2013 or 2014 that the penalty tax for individuals not having health insurance kicks in.

If you have insurance chances are your rates are going up, some cases up 700%
If your employer employs a certain number of employees they have to offer insurance
If your employer does not have to, then you can go to your states exchange or you can pay a fine for not having insurance, which I understand is cheap now but will get stiffer later on
If you are below a certain income level your policy will be subsidized up to 100%

I set thru a meeting about this a couple of month ago and for the life of me I can't jog my memory as to the full effect. but there are some clauses in there that are going to disqualify a lot of the needy and they will have to buy insurance. if I recall correctly about 50% (don't quote me on %) of the folks that wanted this program are going to get hit the hardest. that's why they are trying to delay it so they(libs and progressives) won't feel the impact before 2016 elections.

I saw an interview with Harry Reid and he admitted their goal was to have a one policy system and that was obama care. so much for freedom of choice. A lot of companies are already going to part time labor and cutting benefits because of it, I have read we will go to a nation of part time labor.

It seems to me that the more important date is whenever you file your 2013 return.The message is, hey, young kids, buy health insurance subsidizing the old folks, now, or pay a penalty on your 2013 return. I've shopped for
health care insurance lately, and it's not worth the money. I cannot imagine how this might be attractive to a young healthy person.

if you live in a big city you are going to pay more for these health care exchanges, they have a bronze, silver and gold packages-which honestly from what I have seen many will not be able to afford any of the plans-
I feel in my heart that this is just the wrong thing, Obama-care is going to damage this country-when this all started this was supposed to help keep the insurance companies from overcharging, the hospitals from charging too much, and help people with no insurance get a good plan-I don't think it will accomplish anything but raise everyone premiums who have it thru their employers-and put many people who are so borderline already on their budgets in debt more. If these plans were awesome plans, like a $500 deductible, 80/20 copays something like that, it sure would be a good thing, but the plans all have high deductibles and are very costly. i don't see how people can just come up with money now when they have never been able to afford it before-unless they have a magic money tree in their backyards-

I just pray that Congress will defund Obamacare. I am sure they would if they were not exempt from it. I hope every Republican Congressman/woman that votes for Obamacare gets voted out of office asap.
