What breed to Use, Angus, Beefmaster or Braunvieh

Help Support CattleToday:

I know this sounds dumb, but what would be the pros and cons for moderate milk or more milk. The problem I am having with my Charolais cows is they don't produce enough milk.

Thanks for all the help

Their is obvious troubles if you don't have enough milk, but the problem alot of guys don't realize is when you have to much milk, if the feed resources aren't there, the cow is working to hard. She will put all she has into milk production and will ussually loose body condition and show up open.

Thanks BRG, my understanding was that Beefmaster is able to produce enough milk and maintain body conditions under limited feed. The reason I am trying to get my information from ranchers instead of the internet is because every story about most breeds is the same. Most acclimate, good mothers ......

A breed increasing in popularity worldwide due to it's hardiness, fertility and especially parasite resistance, as it evolved in an extreme environment over thousands of years in the southern bushveld area of Zimbabwe/Botswana is the Tuli, breeders can be located through the North American Breeders Association, with at least one breeder in Mexico;
http://www.tuliassociation.com/breeders.html
A good website to read up on the breed and see some pictures;
http://www.tuli.co.za/
They are an exelent hardy damline pure or as an F1, and cross with all popular commercial breeds with a high degree of heterosis, both Bos Taurus and Bos Indicus, due to their unique genetics, and having been isolated from the mainstream of western cattle breeds for thousands of years.
