What breed are these????

I daily drive by a field that has a substantial herd of cattle. I had never seen this breed until I started traveling this route. Help! They are black with a white "stripe" that appears to go all the way around their middle.

WHO are they and what are they used for? They are not the only attraction on this property.........there's an African Zebra that grazes with them. Seriously.

I think Beau Lingos are belted. Sorry about the spelling, but sound it out.
 
They are probably Belted Galloways. They are primarily used for grass finished beef. They also have an extra coat of hair which means the meat has less surface fat while still having good marbling.
 
Ok, so they DO have an extra coat of hair...

I was helping my friend (who breeds belts) groom her yearling the other day, and I swear we took another whole cow off of him!

good to know I am not completely crazy...
