What are you eating today?

Help Support CattleToday:

Usually goose is on the menu but due to fewer people it is dead duck and corn bread dressing and trimmings.
It will be good. Thanksgiving was a New England event but today has an Ozark flair! Who knows, maybe next year,
Este Bueno !?

This heat is miserable. Nothing like a tomato/onion sandwich on lightly toasted homemade bread with mayo, salt, pepper and cold tater salad and cucumbers. Makes the heat seem less intense. Could also be the cold beer in a frozen mug, with a squeeze of lemon. What "heat buster" meals do you eat?
Smoking ribs and pork loin with tater salad and Mac and cheese

I was sadden to see I bought a handicap turkey when I got it unwrapped. Poor sucker didn't have any legs or wings, oh well it smells good cooking.
Yep that would make me sad too, at least what's there will be good too. I like the neck, liver, and gizzard as soon as it's done. Legs are my first go to at mealtime.

Was the neck and head still on with the duck smiling up at you?

Haha! Good plan!

Had u done the prime rib, there would've been NO leftovers. And that would've been bad!
sigh...... The reason we had so many leftovers is wife came down sick yesterday with flu/covid like symptoms so we are in self imposed quarantine and as a precaution, we didn't attend the family dinner today. No where to get tested until monday either.
(I feel fine myself but she is miserable. Terrible headache and a fever. I have had the booster/she has not)
So, since I had already thawed out the cube steak, I cooked them early last night and a little ham today and here we are eating at home.

Cedars are putting up a good bit of smoke right now.

just finished the traditional blackeyed peas/cabbage/baked glazed ham and cornbread thing. Told wife, next year, I'm opening a can of peas, another of sauerkraut, making a cold sliced ham samich, and that's it.

😂

Yeah, more or less, just another day around here.

Let's see…had a slice of deli ham for a snack earlier. Had some beans last night…close enough…and just had some broccoli to go with some leftover prime rib.

Stopped the "traditional" stuff decades ago.

Haven't missed any meals

Sky are you doing any hogs in this cool weather? I am missing your annual pictures!
Funny you mentioned that... I was wondering if anyone would notice I am not doing any this year.. long story short my pig pen was crushed by a tree in oct and my pigs I planned on killing which would be this week got out and I couldn't catch them so I shot them in November and processed them and started the hams then

I've said it before and will repeat it again.
Trees, are NOT your friend!

Ate for the first time at a place called Dixie Diner yesterday, in Texarkana Tx.
A disappointment. CFS which was just 'ok', but the gravy had both a texture and taste like 1st grade or home made water/flour paste. The breading on the CFS was not very good. The turnip greens were pretty good (what few there were) but the skin-on skinny french fries were cold and greasy.
dinner for myself and my sister (including tip) was $36.
I'll not darken their door again.

It's depressing when ya get a bad Chicken Fried Steak.

Cotton Patch….

Pretty good and consistent across out region as far as I can tell.

My sister got some kind of chicken....chicken fingers looking things. She said they were good but I'm not a big fan of chiiken except southern fried chicken and chicken/sausage gumbo. I have eaten at Cotton Patch, maybe it was in San Angelo. Just good plain fare sort of like Cracker Barrel without all the wall hung hoopla and fireplace.
