What are you eating today?

You may have heard of the Waltrip brothers. They were into racing and grew up in the "bbq capital".

More important is that there is a paper mill there that makes lots of toilet paper (for those who think toilet paper is important).:)
They also have a Ragu tomato processing plant there.
The Moonlite is a pretty good place to eat they offer a large buffet, with several kinds of meat bbq, mutton, pork, beef, chicken, fried chicken livers, catfish on Fridays. Lots of sides and desserts.
There is also another smaller restaurant that I used to think had slightly better bbq, but the last time we ate there it was not good.
It's 200 miles west of here, completely different lay of land. It is pretty much level with crops grown as far as eye can see.

Love the ice cream, but we rarely buy it because we love it too much. A few years ago we bought some Red Button and it's definitely worth a try if you can find it.
I had to look up Red Button ice cream. Said it was made in Utah. I've have never seen it around here, but I'll be on the lookout.
With my wife being from Oklahoma, we are partial to Braum's ice cream, it's regional just pretty much in OK, and some surrounding states. Bluebell is a very close second and the best we can get around here.

Braum's is too syrupy in your mouth...I suspect it's the eggs. (The last Braum's I was in (Sulphur Springs Tx) they sold Blue Bell and their own brand. The worst 'ice cream' I ever tried was Blue Bunny during the great Blue Bell Famine of 2015.
They, and about a dozen other brands aren't legally ice cream. They're 'frozen deserts', won't have the name 'ice cream' on the container, usually because they contain vegetable oil.
Nestle drumsticks and Klondike bars fall into this category.

Yeah, last year when Bluebell started being right at $10 wife decided we'd try some other cheaper kinds. Breyers, Turkey Hill, Krogers Private Selection and just plain Krogers.
Breyers was like flavored water, Turkey Hill was similar to a heavier version of cool whip. I won't even try to describe the Kroger brand, the Private Selection was similar to Turkey Hill.
Now we splurge and stock up on Bluebell when it's in sale or just get one container at the $10.

one time I lived in Rochester NY for almost a year. They had a Ragu place there too and on the 2 or 3 days a week they cooked the sauce I would go out of my way to drive through that area just to smell it

I'm a big fan of just about everything HEB does and sells, but I don't care for their store brand ice cream. It's hard to explain, but it's something to do with the texture.

i know exactly what you mean. It lacks a creamy consistency. Too much is ice milk crystals which leads me to believe there is too little milk or cream solids in in. The butterfat I suppose.
