West Central Oklahoma fires

There has been flare up every day here. So far they have managed to get them out. Today might be different with 45-50 mph winds. The weather forecasters are saying at least 13 days before any rain. Awake part of the night do we sell part of them, pen and feed hay for 2 weeks hoping for rain or overstock other pastures for a few weeks and then possibly having too sell more. Talked to FSA yesterday. They say it will be a few weeks likely before they know what assistance will be an available. Said those like us that graze left over grass instead of feeding hay might not get as much if any help. Said sometimes they only offer help to those that lost hay. In my mind we leave our hay in the pasture and graze it. So have to make the decision in a few hours.
And found out yesterday they plan to deliver the bull I bought this week.
Pray everyone gets some rain and we don't get fires where it hasn't burned.
I hope they keep it contained today and tomorrow both days are going to be trying on fire fighters.

Left this morning for work and there was a fire over the hill that started along the right of way. Fortunately it was on the smaller end of a triangle shaped piece with fields on the down wind side. It shouldn't be a problem but with the wind who knows.

Good morning. The noise from the coffee maker woke me up. The wife tho, is still asleep. I'm waiting to hear news from my sisters back in east Texas about a wildfire that is relatively close to their homes and my old home. About 8 miles it looks like according to google maps but so far, the wind is moving it away from my sisters' area. 2300 acres burned and 20% contained as of late yesterday evening, which isn't very big as wildfires go. A prescribed burn on private property that got out of control. I think this is about 40-50 miles SE of Rafter's place.

An update. The FSA had a meeting for those that lost cattle, grass and fence yesterday. Said they had approval from Washington. Told us what programs would be available and the requirements for each. Not as good as previous fires and the requirements for acceptance is more stringent. Feel lost days of grazing maybe the only program we apply for. We lost many corners and stretch posts. They will pay by the foot and only pay 25%. So an 8' corner will pay around $25.00 and cost us $200.00. With pre approval required we will likely fix ours so if it rains we can put cattle back on our.
