Guess with cattle prices being so high everyone is jumping on the band wagon.

Got a call tonight from some guy. He had a terrible accent so he was hard to understand. Like one of those guys you end up talking to in a foreign country. "Peggy" you can understand.
Asked for both my husband and myself, never gave his name and talked really fast.
asked if we had any Hereford cows for sale and said he found us in the Montana Hereford Association book.
told him no we had no cows for sale and we already shipped our sale calves.
Ok. bye.

Most serious buyers we have had call us before at least ask if we know anybody who has some for sale.
Got a bad feeling after talking to him so I'm glad I did not pass along any names to him of fellow breeders. Hope nobody gets taken by this guy.

There are a few scams going around. I had a bull on craigslist a few weeks ago. I got an email from someone , wanted to know when they could send someone by to pick up my "item". I emailed back and said anytime , just let me know and bring cash when you come.

I heard of another where they will email or call and send someone to pick up the animal/s after a price is agreed on and when the driver gets there he has a cashiers check for $200 more than the asking price. They want you to give them the $200 difference back and they leave with the animal/s. When you go to the bank you find out the cashiers check is a bogus check and not any good. If someone goes through with it then they have your animal/s and $200 from you. I am sure there are several others also.
