Does someone know how to determine the weight of a year old heifer? I've heard that you measure their girth behind their front legs then measure their length and do some sort of algebra to get an approx weight.

If you go to the sale barn you will get really good at it as they show the weigh of every animal coming in.

Thanks, exactly what I was looking for. My wife said to take the bathroom scale out there, weigh myself, then pick each one up and weigh both of us, then subtract my weight and that's how much the cow weighs. Bless her heart.

In my case that would work until each calf got up to about 150 lbs.
