I have a Spiedel weed wiper. I use it on Johnson grass in my coastal meadows.
Has several problems. One if the johnsongrass is thick the canvas won't recharge quick enough to get enough Roundup on the grass. Second all of the dallisgrass seeds stick to the canvas and clog it up, so you have to get off the tractor or ATV and clean off the canvas periodically.
They recommend that you go over a field twice when using a weed wiper with the second pass perpendicular to the first one.
To help solve the problem of the canvas not recharging quick enough I hooked a small 12v air compressor to it and basically pressurize it to force the Round Up out. Only problem now is that it drips constantly all of the time.
This year I tried Pastora for the first time. It knocked 80% of the johnson grass out and set back the rest. It also stunted my coastal but by the time it was time to cut I couldn't see any difference in the places that I sprayed vs the ones that I didn't. Pastora was expensive but I will use it again.
