I have about a dozen heifer calves that I need to ween - how long will it take for their mothers to dry up enough to keep the calves off of them? I plan to keep most of the calves as replacement heifers.

6-8 weeks

Thanks for the information. I am still curious as to how long it will take the cows to dry up.

Drying up is a different thing then weaning. 10 days - 2 weeks to dry off completely.
