It sounds expensive for some thing and off the shelf $99 cell cam can do.
Yeah agreed. I do like the ability to control my pumps, and having all the information about my troughs and tanks in one location though. I tried to find some information on the software and it seems pretty intuitave and simple to use. Lots to consider. It sounds expensive for some thing and off the shelf $99 cell cam can do.
$1,460 a year. I opined on another thread that a supplement to control pain was too expensive at $45 for 60 tablets and someone said that it was cheap because it's only $0.75 a day, $270 a year.(Starlink) That's $4.00 a day. You drive to remote pastures for less than that? Plus factor in your time?
Two approaches. Which one accumulates wealth?
Ya I could see that. If you are managing 20+ pumps it would likely be worth the investment. $99 cameras come with their own reliability issues. It's not bad on a handful but would get old with more numbers.Yeah agreed. I do like the ability to control my pumps, and having all the information about my troughs and tanks in one location though. It doesn't have to be. I just don't like having to do the things necessary to earn the money it takes for unnecessary stuff. I'd rather do things that I enjoy, and money isn't necessary for that. Why is accumulating wealth important?
Not saying I'm going to pay 1500 bucks a year to monitor a water tank. But the old saying "you can't take it with you when you go".
From what I saw, the unit is $1460, which is a one time thing, and then $270 a year for the service use.$1,460 a year. I opined on another thread that a supplement to control pain was too expensive at $45 for 60 tablets and someone said that it was cheap because it's only $0.75 a day, $270 a year.
I get free TV including Netflix, Prime, Hulu, and NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, Grit, and PBS, and a bottle of 200 aspirin/Advil is $4/8.
I don't know about you, but I see intelligent spending as a path to a better life. Other people see immediate gratification as the better life.

With 4 I would give the cameras a shot. It would be a significant savings. I run around 10-12 cameras on feeders and water at a time. 3-4 will be on water. Knock on wood I have really good luck witht those. It's the feeder ones that wear me out some times. From what I saw, the unit is $1460, which is a one time thing, and then $270 a year for the service use.
So my initial investment would be higher, but after that, the subscription cost isn't terrible.
We will end up having four troughs and a tank so it would be nice to be able to check them all in the morning without driving around.
Game cameras could work for that, but the ability to control pumps as well is a definite benefit. We don't really have a lot of help where we are and its tough to find part time work, so this would allow us to be gone/use our time differently.
Also, where are you getting Netflix, Prime, Hulu for free?! I need that deal!
