I have a 600 lb. steer that has warts on its neck and various places on its head. The cluster on its neck look like cauliflower and cover about the size of my fist on his neck. Any suggestions on how to get rid of them?

There has been a lot of discussion on this topic. If you do a search for warts you can find a lot of helpful information.
Hope this helps.

I failed to mention that I have already tried used motor oil on the warts and also given him a wart vaccine. A vet told me to take a pair of pliers and pull them off.

this treatment im going to tell you about is dngerious an tricky.you candabb liquid nitrogen on the warts an freeze them off. but you have tobe careful to only get it on the warts. not on your skin b/c it could freeze your hide off. so if you have a semen tank you you have the stuff to do it with. talk to your vet an get some help if you decide to do that. scott

i heard that you can take colgate toothpaste and put it on the warts. This helps to try it up and then they should fall off.

Have had them on several animals. The problem seemed to take care of itself after a yr or 2. They(the warts) develope when they are calves and disappear later.

I would advise against liquid nitrogen, it is dangerous to both you and the animal.

If they're really bad then get the vet to cut them off, if theres just a few and the animal isnt suffering then leave them, they will probably disappear on their own as long as the steer is fit and healthy.

Either pull them off with pliers or leave them. They are probally bothering you more than they are the steer.

I pulled a bunch of nasty looking warts off a few cows on Sunday with pliers.
Very easy.

The colgate treatment worked on my own warts when nothing else did.

I dont suggest the liquid nitrogen. I have seen what a "spill" can do.
