Some judges hate the socks no matter how good the heifer and some if the heifer is good enough will overlook them. If your showing a good pair and the cow is solid and the calf has socks most will knock em. If your showing a really good pair and the cow has socks but the calf doesn't them they tend to pic them because obviously(from what they see..might be painted though) the cow isn't throwing calves with extra white..so it's ok.
Other than white faces most here don't like the white at all unless the heifer is Extremely good.
