We can't always be with our children every time they turn on the radio or TV. If a person wants filth and perversion that's their right, I just don't want it in my home on my TV. I flipped the channel just in time to see two fags kissing. Sure I turned my head in disgust, but how do you get that sick image out of your head? Where are my rights? Don't I have the right to descent entertainment without being offended before I get the chance to change the channel and What about our right to protect our kids from that kind of filth. Just where do we draw the line?

& even when we're w/them, sometimes the inappropriate things on tv just sneak in. i have a 3-yr old and there's no such thing as "prime time" tv anymore. before i had her and before she started to talk i don't know that i even noticed all the language thrown in on some of the sitcoms. for the most part these shows are ok, but then all of a sudden out of the blue, they'll throw in some curse word (which the show would have been just as good w/o).

Well, MR3, that filth and perversion which disgusts you doesn't bother me at all and I don't mind it being in my home! Every cable company in America which offers adult programming is required by law to offer a channel lockout on the system. Learn to use it, and you don't have to worry about your kids watching your porn. When you flipped the channel and saw 2 gays kissing, you are the one who chose to flip the channel, your tv didn't automically go to that station by itsself. Pay attention to what you are doing. It's not the gov'ts job to babysit your kids and control our television programs. At least you had different stations to flip to, at the rate we're going, we will be back to only having the 3-4 major stations we had in the 60's!
What's gonna happen when the FCC decides that they don't like hunting/fishing shows, they seem cruel to animals, so let's take them off the air too! No one makes you watch television, you decide what you want to watch and what you don't like. Just because you don't like it does'nt mean you have the right to have it taken off the air, as I am sure there are shows you watch that I would never watch, but I support your right to watch them!

Eric I've concluded that you are right. We don't want the government deciding for us. The problem is the sickos that created the market for all that garbage out there, and of course programing is dictated by viewers. By the way, don't go quoting the Bible for which you admitted you knew nothing about. Soddom and Gomorah is the what the Big Boss does to immoral societies.

Yeah, DR...I often wonder if our society is all that much worse today than when we were growing up, or do we just have so much more information nowadays?...Do you think we had child molesters when we were little, and we just didnt hear about them, whereas nowadays we see them posted on websites, pictures in the newspapers, notices sent home from schools etc. This really freaks my wife out when she sees where a child molester moved into our city and has registered with the police dept, and I just think we've always had sicko's and we just have access to more information about them now.

and I also see some of the stuff on TV and wonder, "who the heck would watch this stufff?", but I am sure there are plenty of people who can't understand why I spend alot of time when I am alone watching RFD-TV!

If folks want to get a program off the air, just stop watching it, when it ceases to make a profit, it will be gone, I can promise you that. Being in business, as you are, we know that if we can't make a buck off it, we usually don't do it very long!

I still commend Bush for saying enough is enough. If people want that trash, they need to go to the video store or PPV and rent it. Howard Stern? He embarasses me as an American when other countries look at him and say he is an American. They ought to lock him up and let him make some buddies in prison for perverted kicks.

Eric

You say just quit watching the shows and they will go off the air. The problem is that the people who watch garbage like this are sitting at home on welfare and have nothing better to do with their time than sit and watch Gerry Springer and Maury Povich and create a bunch more kids so there welfare check will get higher.

I tend to agree. If nobody paid any attention to Howard Stern or any of the other shock jocks or TV shows, then they would soon fade away. It's not the politicians fault that they are popular, it's because the people keep listening or watching. The government can't legislate morality, but it can, or should, perform the will of the people. If the majority of people don't like something, then they should put a represenative in governemnt with like values and morality to represent them.

I'm a registered democrat, but have been voting republican for a number of years. The democratic party use to be the common man, and the working mans party: the republicans were for the rich. Now it seems the democrats cader to people who don't work and don't want to work, and the system incourages it. They like big government, and appoint liberal judges that are letting the morals of this country go down the toilet. First thing in the morning, before class started all us kids would say the Pledge of Allegiance. What was so wrong with that? The mention of "God" offended some people, but it's okay to have a tv show called "Queer eye for the strait guy" go figure.....

Amen.. jfont...
The Democratic party is now nearly synomous with Socialist. They want to control everything, let the "village" raise our kids. They know infinitely better how to spend "our" money than we do.. tongue in cheek.

I have been a Republican for as long as I can remember, but my mom was a Democrat for her entire life (she is 70).. when clinton ran again she changed parties and continues to be a Republican today. It appears to me that the Democratic party, which did used to be for the common man, has moved so far to the left you have to be a fruitcake to support them. THe Republicans have moved to center and seem to be closer to the old time Dems than what "used" to be the Republican party.

It is my personal opinion, that the moral fiber of this country took a HUGE dive under clinton..where anything was ok. Lying, cheating, sex that is not "really" sex, murder of infants (partial birth abortion) and any special interest you might have, no problem. It is also when the trial lawyers got the green light to sue for anything, ridiculous or not, "political correctness" that is a joke.. I can go on and on... makes me sick.

Bush is a man that sticks with his guns, the polls are not what drives him..he has the guts to stick up for what is right, he does not play both sides of the fence..and whether he is right or wrong on an issue.. one certainly knows where he stands on it.

Kerry on the other hand, is a drone. He is a kept man, can talk out of both sides of his face at the same time, and is pathetic .. Has anyone heard anything that the dems would do better? I have not.. I only hear what Bush should did/did not do..per them. they have no platform, no basis and if they win this election based on Bush-bashing.. then one really needs to reflect on what is going on in this country. Like vote for me, I have no clue what I will do, but vote for me anyway.

sad..sad..sad

Exactly, and the most common commercials they're watching between these shows are lawyer commercials asking "have you been injured in an accident". Eric, you own your own business? You think none of your employees would ever sue you if hurt? Think again. And it is these liberal judges and juries (the ones that think you don't have to earn your money but someone else should give it to you) who will be so generous in their verdict that your ex-employee will then own your shop. Too many people in our society now feel that they are "owed" something and don't want to work for it themselves. I'm not trying to change your mind or your vote, just trying to make you see that there are bigger issues going on than whether you get to listen to Howard Stern. You have to look at the big picture and all the issues. Voting on one issue is like single-trait selection in cattle. You may get the one thing you want but the rest of it may look like crap. Overall, I would say the Republican party is much more in tune to the "average" or "normal" citizen than the Democratic party.

It's the fact that he is becoming too involved with my everyday life by messing with my first amendment rights! I don't want to be told what I can read, or what I can hear or what I can watch.

it sounds like you're talking about something specific......care to elaborate? but on the same note, the demos want to take away your guns......how is that not infringing on your amendment rights?

Agree that Democrats want to take your guns--Clintons, Gores, and all of their supporters and other Demos. Take note that the countries that have "outlawed" guns (e.g., Great Britian, Canada, Australia, etc.) have an INCREASED violent crime rate! The states and countries that allow you to "Carry Concealed" (and/or in your pickup) have LOWER violent crime rates. Something to think seriously about!!

:D

Don't you know Gore is thanking God he didn't get elected? Pre 9/11 gun control actions on the table. Post 9/11 ammunition sales hit all time highs. I know I stocked up!

Don't confuse the dems with facts.

If Billary is President you will probably be required to hand him the keys to the place and then assume the position for the required show of affection.

for one thing, gw is not giving them citizenship. on the other hand, this is one of the issues that i don't agree w/bush on. we have a problem w/immigration in this country and i don't think giving more of them legal (not citizenship) status is the way to curb this. many of these workers are filling jobs that american citizens don't want. yes, there are unemployed workers, but are these workers willing to work the fields for minimum wage or less? or they willing to work in the packing plants? no. they can make more sitting at home on welfare & having kids than they can make working for minimum wage at a job they don't want to do. i think you work on the welfare system, get some of these folks back to work, and there will not be such a market for the illegals. also, there is a push in congress right now (don't know the exact bill) to change the current rule that anyone born in america is a citizen for those illegal women who wait until they're almost ready to give birth & then coming over to have a little american citizen who can then bring the rest of his/her family over.

as Guest above stated, we shouldn't vote on just one issue. i feel that as a whole, bush has done as good, if not better, job than anyone else in his shoes. i think he makes most of his decisions based on what he feels is right and not just what he thinks will win him votes.
