I watched this program on TV this morning about a farm in Utah raising a lot of their feed hydroponically. This thought came to mind where will they be able to get all of the seeds to grow their feed. Looks like to an extent you can thwart mother nature but you will have to depend on the normal plant cycle to produce seed.

Have always wondered if this is not just one of those 'feel-good/greenie' kind of things.
Sure, it 'works', but is it cost-effective... or even environmentally sustainable.
Once you factor in the cost of building the greenhouse and all the trays, piping, pumps, cost of electricity for lighting, water, labor, etc. , would you not be $$$ ahead just feeding the grains they're sprouting?
IDK, just wondering...
