Value of Gain for Feeders

Have you calculated the value of gain recently in your area? I looked at some light heifers during December and the market was only paying 30 to 40 cents per pound US... :(

I guess I need more info I haven't seen any hfrs bring 30-40 cents around here that is cull cow price
What size lightweights ?

What size lightweights ?

I'm no expert, but I don't think that SS is talking about the actual per pound market price for the heifers?
 
For example:
If 5 wts. sell for 90/cwt. and 6 wts. sell for 80/cwt. then the value of gain for the last 100 pounds is:

(6x80)-(5x90)=480-450=$30/cwt which does not pay for a lot of feed...
