in a killed virus vaccine like vira shield, it tells you on the bottle to use all the contents when opened. what happens to it if you keep it. i have in the past kept a half a bottle instead of throwing it away. just wondering how big a deal that is. actually if my memory serves me right,  , i think about every kind of vaccine i have ever used has said that on the bottle.

thanks

If it is KILLED, I keep it stored properly until expiration date. Modified Live (MLV) CANNOT be kept.
Edit:
When you draw vaccine out of the bottle - put a needle in the bottle and don't take it out. Draw the vaccine, take syringe off needle & put new needle on syringe to give injection. That way, you are not contaminating the vaccine. If you inject animal than put needle into bottle, I would definately throw it away.

thanks jeanne,

that is very good advice on partial bottles being kept.
