Watching our middle of the day Sunday edition of Landline, seen an interesting story about the Iowa state fair. They interviewed a diary exhibitor who's family have been showing at the fair for the past 90 years. Is it true that this state is one of the richest soil parts of the US? It would have been nice to have seen a few of the cattle that would have been shown there. What internet associated rural programs can we Australians tap into to see a bit more of rural US and Canada? Our Television channel ABC has a fair bit of rural stuff from time to time.
It is interesting to see how other countries do things.

Never seen it rfdtv but have heard of it.

There are darned few programs in Canada that dea with rural life - and certainly to the best of my knowledge no stations that are completely devoted to it.

Canada has so little interest in television, the major corps are closing stations left and right as they become unprofitable through lack of viewership.

Seems the internet is the rage for everything from news to wezther to sports and all things in between.

Yes.

I watched that segment on landline as well. The deep fried pork chop on a stick looked pretty good. Apparantly you can get 35 different types of food deep fried on a stick at the Iowa state fair.

Talked to a very nice group of your countrymen this summer. They did a trek across the US on Chamberlain tractors.
Maybe you could form a group to come trek for cattle operations and farm tours.

check them out at http://www.transworldtractortreks.com
these are people from ag backgrounds so they could be neighbors.

mwj would love to do that one day. Some of our rural newspapers have trips to South America ( Brazil/ Argentina) They should add Uruguay to the list. There are trips to the US/Canada often culminating at the Calgary Stampede. A few papers have trips through our country at times too. We've hosted one not that long back from a group of Victorians (the state to our south) boy they do things differently down there. The country's different and the people. Thanks for the info

If you ever come over this way you can prolly find places to stay with board members to save $$ and get a taste of the rural farm/ranch life over here.
