Well....I just realized that I vaccinated my pregnant cows with Bovi-Shield Gold 5. I have read where this can cause abortions in my cows, so...

#1 - What will this do to my cows?

#2 - If it causes an abortion, will it only be a 1 time occurrence?

#3 - is there anything that can be done to reduce this possibility?

Stupid mistake on my part.....I am new to this cattle thing

If they had been vaccinated with a MLV in the past you should be ok. As to what you can do now is cross your fingers and be more carefull in the future.

Good answers Dun and Butch about sums it up. Yes if they have been vaccinated before they will treat a challenge from the vaccine just as they would with the normal virulent virus for which you are protecting them from so no worries.

Wow. Sorry to hear that. Can't even record all the mistakes I've made that have cost me in the cattle business. As they say - experience is a brutal teacher, she gives you the test first and then teaches you the lesson.

I bought them all as 4-5 years olds, so I am hoping that the previous owner gave them a dose!
They are all late 2nd stage to 3rd stage

Is this a case that you could call the previous owner and ask?
