Take your wife's old panty hose and cut the legs out of them. Then cut the feet off. Slit them down the sides. Roll them up like a sushi roll. Take your scissors and slice the roll into half inch wide strings.

These turn out to be the very best thing I know of to tie boysenberry vines to the trellis. You can use a soft tie and they will never cut into the vine because of the elasticity. Use them for roses and tomatoes vines too. I tie and then cut the string and tie again.
 
We just slit walmart bags and use them. By the fall they just fall apart so they can be turned under without having to take anything down.
