I've had a bunch of cows freshening latley and 3 out of the 5 cows ended up with twisted stomachs. what caused this and how do i fix it?

Feeding them incorrectly will cause this to happen. What breed, what age? With more information, I might be able to answer the question.

are you feeding too finely chopped silage or chopping their hay

sudden or gradual decrease in appetite,bowel movements slowed& secondary acetonemia developes. may nibble some hay but not eat much grain. in acute cases they can run a high fever. feces scant & pasty, sometimes diarhea, milk production drops & cows lose weight. vet can hear a tinkling sound on left side if he snaps his finger in right place. sometimes a trailer ride or running cow around will help a mild case

Actually there are three versions of the twisted stomach. The most common, the LDA is found on the left, with a ping. The most common sign is going off grain.
The second is an RDA, and it is then found on the right side. The third, and worst, is RTA which is a twisted abomasum which cuts off the blood supply and if not quickly repaired, results in a dead cow.
All of these have different causes, and the breed of animal makes a difference...

NO Problem ..... I ended up getting surgery done on all 3 of them Pens are now axed as they have to stay in for a while to heal.
