Simme Valley, more of a mix blood commercial herd then. Had used Hereford, Black Angus, Chi, Red Poll, Simmental, Gelbvieh bulls. The last 20 years have been much closer to pure simmental so yes very well could be much of the reasoning for the twinning results here. Our last Gelbvieh bull started the heavy twinning and the Simmentals followed suit.

Also, cattle on good nutrition will increase twinning. I think if in good condition, genetics plays a big role in it. Got one in labor as I type!!!

This time of year, twins are a blessing. Find a 4H kid looking for a bucket calf project and make their day.

Yes calves shown in the bucket class are supposed to be born between 2/1 and 4/1.
I've done this with the unfavored twin before, sell them to a 4Her. I don't make them pay or will refund them if the calf dies within a couple weeks. If it's a poor kid, I'll let them have it.

I have a 4-H family that has purchased a lot of calves from me - I have given them a couple of free-martins.

Nope, not supposed to.... it's a surprise after you bring maybe a woman or maybe a man home from the bar. Bahahahaha. Or maybe you get both. Oh snap.
