There is a male component in twinning -- male IDENTICAL twins are more likely to throw twins.

One egg that splits produces identical twins.

Ann is correct too say that if the calfs are identical twins then it is possible that the probability of increase twins would be linked to the bull rather than the female. The key is determining whether or not they are identical without DNA testing.
